Carlos is a professional writer with 25 years in newspaper journalism and 10 years in legislative communications. He has been a frequent visitor to art museums and galleries since childhood and a dabbler in visual creativity all that time. A lifelong resident of California, he graduated with an AB in Economics from Stanford University, where he studied photography with Leo Holub and foolishly skipped an opportunity to study monoprint with Nathan Oliveira. He had very brief careers in planning graphics, photography, and mural painting in San Francisco. He is retired, living in Sacramento, where he makes mail art and produces giveaway zines on politics, family history, and culture.
