To fund our endeavor we offer memberships to those who want to financially support our efforts. Member galleries help fund reviews from a variety of venues (not just their own), and along with individual (non-gallery) memberships, help financially support the remuneration we offer to our cohort of writers. 90% of any monies raised to support the journal go directly to compensate our writers, the remaining 10% goes to the administration of the site.

Roborant Review does not guarantee favorable coverage to member galleries or in exchange for individual membership. The publication alone decides what exhibitions to review and the content of those reviews.

We remain committed, as we have demonstrated since launching, to covering exhibitions at smaller venues who do not have the resources to financially support our efforts. To that end, we have published reviews of cafe shows, smaller pop-up galleries, and student exhibitions. Since June 17, 2025 (when we first launched Roborant Review) we are proud to say we are the most prolific art journal publishing long-form art reviews in the Western United States.

We have reflected at great length on how best to fund our efforts. Other journals rely on the sale of pop-up and/or banner ads which we have elected not to pursue because of the empirical data that shows this kind of advertising does not lead to meaningful online traffic or sales for the galleries involved. Other journals also, historically, tend to review gallery exhibitions of the galleries who buy advertising all the while maintaining that it does not jeopardize their journalistic integrity. We do not believe our member structure is any less independent than an arrangement that relies on traditional advertising sales. Regardless of how a publication funds its efforts, readers must look to the leadership of the particular journal, their demonstrated publishing history, and assess their credibility and ethics.

We believe anyone that scrutinizes our efforts will be satisfied that we are independent.

We welcome any feedback on our leadership or sustainability structure and will continue to make adjustments in that regard to improve our publication.
