Laura Hines is a fine artist, illustrator, and writer based in Los Angeles, CA. She is the co-founder and chief creative of The Obscure, an immersive distillery and tasting experience in the LA Arts District. Her nearly 20 year career in the arts encompasses digital and traditional media, from gallery exhibitions and packaging illustration, to environmental design and immersive spaces.
A midwest-native with a BA in French from Earlham College, she is a self-taught artist who works from darkness to light, building ethereal worlds in monochrome, shaped by shadow and moonlight. She finds inspiration in animals, old photographs, and esoteric practices like tarot, alchemy, and astrology. She is a lifelong writer and has published various translations, exhibition statements, and artist interviews throughout her career.
She lives in LA with her partner, mother, and assorted creatures.
