Taylor Snowberger is a multimedia artist, educator, and freelance writer from California’s Central Valley, now based in San Francisco. Her writing and analysis is shaped by an expansive, materially curious artmaking approach in her personal studio practice, as well as having read a glut of artists’ biographies. She grew up in Lemoore, a town of 20,000 people which had only one mural, before attending Cal Poly Humboldt for Art Education, spending seven years immersed in redwood kitsch and partaking in grassroots art collectives. Before finally settling in San Francisco, she moved and travelled extensively to experience art and culture first hand, sometimes with grants for writing and research, sometimes just on a whim. She is particularly interested in how the social, economic, historical and cultural contexts of a place manifest into an art ecosystem.
