Chris Buck is the archivist and manager of Ferlinghetti's private library for the Estate of Lawrence Ferlinghetti. In addition to cataloging the books from the private library, Chris collaborates extensively with his wife, Sarah Stangle, who manages the private art collection for the Estate of Lawrence Ferlinghetti—paintings, drawings, prints, and works on paper created across decades.

At the end of 2025, Chris is retiring as the City's Urban Forester (City Arborist) for San Francisco Public Works, closing a 20-year chapter managing the trees along the streets and public right-of-ways of San Francisco. From 2000 to 2005, Chris was the Education Coordinator for the nonprofit Friends of the Urban Forest. With 25 years of public service to his credit, Chris is shifting to another form of service: literary archives and special collections. Chris is now pursuing a Master's in Library & Information Science from San Jose State University.

Chris has a B.A. in English from the University of Iowa ('94) and never stopped reading. He founded Ferlinghetti Day on March 24, 2017, and shares his enthusiasm on Instagram at @ferlinghetti_day. He's lived with his wife and daughter in the Bayview since 2002.

Chris's first review is forthcoming.
